How well do we know the people in our lives? Really, now. I see on Facebook everyone taking these silly ass quizzes about how well do you know (insert name here). Most people really don't know all that much about their friends or family. I am no different except I don't generally take those quizzes. Sometimes it is just TMI. But not wanting to disappoint you all, I have decided to give you an up close and personal look into me, Christine. You may click away now if you wish.
If you're still here. Cool. On my Facebook, I have my friends, people I went to school with, past co-workers and family, some who really do not know me except as the relative that lives in Florida. As a blogger, not many people who read my posts know me in real life (IRL) so I am going to open my Pandora's box and let you know. You might need a drink or two to get you through.
Okay, so here goes some things you didn't know about me.
1. I loved Menudo in high school. Yes, the little Puerto Rican dancing boys were the apple of my eye from the time I was 13 to about age 16, or even after I got married. Hmmm...should I really divulge that? Whatever. Mike teases me merclessly about that. I really don't care. I have Menudo dolls, a Menudo board game, Menudo bookcovers and yes, even Menudo posters and actual pictures. I STILL have my Menudo stuff and I am not willing to part with it. Well, at least not yet. Oh, and I still have all my Menudo LP's-most are in Spanish, but I also have those few that were made in English and one or two in Portuguese-well at least any albums made until 1986. And for the record, no, I don't speak Spanish in any way that counts. I speak curse words and I understand way more Spanish then I let on. To satisfy your burning desire to know-Ray was (and still is) my favorite. The first Ray-Ray Reyes (there were two and well, the other one was puny and had no personality)-and I still have a signed picture of him in a Santa suit. Yep. Really. ANDDDDD...I have another album released in 2000ish with a group of past Menudo's-Ray included-called Proyecto M, and a reunion album as well. Apparently, my fascination has endured the test of time.
2. I am an 80's/90's music freak. I won't even begin to tell you how many songs from the 80's and 90's that come on the radio that I know the words to. Not bragging, just trying to show how pathetic I was during that time and how much time I spent with my Walkman plastered to my head. In college, I had a ginormous box of cassette tapes-no money, but lots of great tunes. To this day, when we are listening to certain 80's stations or playing Singstar or RockBand 80's games, I know all the words and well...I rock. Because I am way cool like that.
3. I love to talk. So much so, that my friends call me a social chair. You all know about my weirdo magnet, and well, that is enhanced by my need to strike up conversations with total strangers because...I know, this is weird...I love people. I love talking and asking questions and learning about people's lives, hobbies, thoughts. Whatever. I know, maybe I am just nosey, but I'm not really. I just love hearing other people's stories and how they live, even if they live just down the street from me. Everyone is so different and I feel like by talking to everyone, I learn so much. Corny, I know, but hey, I love connecting with other people, socializing and even sometimes networking. It is all about the people baby. Leaving my social mark I guess-even if I am a dork.
4. I am not mean, malicious or manipulative. IT is just not in me. I don't understand why people are like that and really believe the whole Why can't we just all get along? I am totally the opposite of the three M's. I am caring, honest and loyal. Kinda like a dog. Although I won't lick you or lift my leg to mark you as my territory. Just so you know.
5. I love books and information. Sigh. I love learning. I am a true book nerd. Books have information, insight and experience all waiting to be sucked up and enjoyed. I love stories and I love information and well, I have shitloads of books. Plus, I go to the library like three times a week. I read, a lot. I read so much I forget what I have read and sometimes buy books two and three times. Sometimes, I will read a few pages of the books to see if it jogs my memory or turns on the lightbulb that I have already read it. This is not always reliable, I might add. Memory loss is so cruel.
6. I love being creative. This includes scrapbooking, stamping and various other crafts that include anything to do with paper, paint, glue, scissors and is a major money sucker. Like my Cricut, Stampin' Up fixation, Sizzix and so forth. I get inspired by pictures, colors and so forth and I like to create small, manageable projects. My kids scrapbooks-not done. It's just too soon for me to go down memory lane. Kind of an oxymoron there (emphasis on the moron part-lol!) but I get tired of scrapping the same stuff all the time. My goal is to write the memories and the funny stuff down so I don't forget it and later go back and create the kid's books. It just never ends and I like projects that have a complete by date. Makes me feel more productive.
7. When I was a teacher, my favorite grade to teach was Kindergarten. I LOVE teaching Kindergarten. The kids get so excited as they start learning their letters, how to write their names and how to read. It is so inspiring to see your students finally get something they have been struggling with. When I see that lightbulb go off, it makes me feel good-like I have done my job. I also love all the creating, the field trips and the fun lessons in Kindergarten. The kids, I love them and they are way cute! Funny thing is, I have been teaching children my whole life. I used to play school and teach all the neighborhood kids their letters and how to write their names from the time I was eight years old. No job has ever been so rewarding.
8. My degree is in English and Communications and not Education. So not me. I suck at grammar and creative writing. I love to write non-creative stuff, but teaching is what I know. It is what I love. I just do not want to go back to school right now to get that little piece of paper that pronounces me an official teacher. Maybe someday.
9. My husband and my children are my world. Without them I would be so lost. Mike is my best friend. He gets me even when I am being a dork or a witch. My children, they are so cool. They are funny, unique, smart and affectionate. We have created this little family that is all ours and they truly make me whole.
10. I am addicted to pizza, ice cream, chicken wings, popcorn, CHOCOLATE and DIET COKE. This is definitely why my waistline is so large. Pizza rocks and DIET COKE, well, there are just no words except...Ahhh....Love me my diet coke. I should probably clarify all the food choices. I do not eat those foods everyday-I just have them way to often for my waistline to shrink. Except the Diet Coke. Two a day and I am all good. Need that rush in the morning and I do not drink it after 3pm or I will not get any sleep. Old age is really starting to kick my ass!
So, there you have it. All the little useless information you need to know about me to take those Facebook quizzes. My close friends, they know those things. Even the Menudo stuff. And they still love me. How lucky I am. LOL!!
Seriously now, do you think I should create a quiz on my Facebook page for all to take?
Not. Gonna. Happen.
Take a moment, tell me one thing about you, that many people do not already know. Not confession-like, but fun. :) I look forward to reading your comments!

I'm a Disney nut. Going on my birthday. Imagine that.
I agree! Those quizzes are silly, but slightly addictive. Confession: I've been on FB for over 4 years and I have yet to succumb to one. I have been tagged in about 8 this week, so I might just give in. Let's keep oyr fingers crossed.
