Getting Rid of the Clutter

Lately, I have been all about discarding the junk. I have been ripping apart closets, drawers and stacks of stuff. Most of it gets thrown away, while the rest gets separated into give away piles or put aside to be sold on Ebay. It feels really good to discard all the clutter taking up the precious space in my house. I mean really, do I really need that old maternity top that still fits me and now just pronounces me fat instead of pregnant? Uh...I didn't think so.
So, while I was discarding all of my crap, I started to feel good. Like I was moving away from the chaos and into a more peaceful arena.
While deciding what to keep and what to pitch, I began thinking about my relationships and the role they played in my life. Some, I realized, were terrific, others needed some work and then there were a few that were slowly eating away at my spirit.
My heart was heavy because I knew that although I cared about those relationships, I could not continue to allow them in my space, cluttering it up. Just like my things, some I had to let go.
In letting clutter invade my life, I realized it was more difficult to go about the task of living and being happy. By letting go, I leave space for the things that matter and make me happy.
I am free and it is all good.

I must say I love love this post! Clutter can refer to our closets, homes, and our relationships. I too have some relationships cluttering up my space and must learn to let go and move forward to be happier :-) Good for you!

BTW: do you have a local Freecycle? it's a free place to keep items out of landfills and you can offer any of your "junk" out to others in case they want it? I co-own my local one so thought I would mention it, and it's free. www.freecycle.org is the link in case you are interested!

I'd like to get rid of some clutter, but my husband calls them collections. And my clutter 'I swear I fit back into it "someday"'.

Michele,
I am also getting rid of collections-mine, Mike's and the kids. If they don't use it, it goes out the door! LOL!! Very effective!
