Our New Addition

We added a new family member this weekend. Like three kids, 2 cats and 2 dogs are not enough, yeah, I know. But it couldn't be helped. It was a matter of being a good friend. Of accepting responsibility.
It's a boy in case you're wondering.
His name-Larry.
Larry is very quiet and amenable to going wherever we go.
How cool is that, right?
He is also not a big eater.
A definite plus in my book. Especially because my children are sucking down every item in my house so quickly that Sam's Club and I are best friends. They should offer free home delivery for all the business I bring them.
But I digress.
We introduced Larry to one set of grandparents this weekend. He hung out with them and went out to dinner with my parents and the kids for Panda's birthday. He had a great time. He also had cake and helped Panda open her presents at Grandma's belated birthday celebration. Being that his arrival was unexpected, Grandma was not prepared with a little welcome gift for Larry. But we took care of that.
We gave him his own blanket to sleep on. He was so happy.
After Larry and the kids came home from Grandma's, we made plans for Saturday. We were supposed to go to the local water park, but it was monsooning so we had to go to plan B.
Which was lunch and a movie.
Indoor stuff.
First, Mike and I took the kids to Skyline Chili. Mike had been promising the boys that he would take them and with Larry's arrival, it was the perfect opportunity.
Really, he wanted to take them so they could suck down some chili and then slowly stink Panda and I out of the house with their chili farts.
Seriously.
But anyway.
Larry is really not a fan of chili, so he had some oyster crackers and was quite content to watch us all eat our chili stuff.
After lunch, we went to see the movie "Up". It was a real tearjerker. Even Larry was touched by the movie. He sat with Panda in the theater and she shared her movie candy and popcorn with him. Once the movie was over, we went home and Larry played Lego's with Panda and Mini Me. He was a little apprehensive about showering in front of the kids, so we let him hold off until he was more comfortable.
Sunday, I brought home bagels from Einstein's and we all enjoyed breakfast together. Larry LOVES bagels. We basically spent a lazy family day watching TV, movies and just hanging. The good thing was Larry really seemed to gel with our craziness.
Monday, our rain fest continued, so we just hung out at home, cleaning. Yep, even Larry. He helped Panda and Mini Me put away their clothes.
Did I mention what a good influence he is on my children? Cleaning, reading and playing quietly. Gotta love it.
Larry even read with Panda and sat patiently while she read a story to him.
Tuesday, Larry had to return to his family.
Panda placed him in a Ziploc, put him in her backpack and off she and Larry went to school.
Back to MrsThirdGrade Teacher and her class.
Did I mention that Larry is a lobster?
Yeah, he's also a little on the red side, but we still love him even if he is different.
Or stuffed.
With stuffing.
Not lobster meat.
Just thought I should point that out.
Hey Larry, thanks for visiting. Come back anytime-we had a blast!
