Sometimes, it is possible to get what you wish for. Case in point. My request for cooler temperatures was miraculously granted. Mother Nature was totally listening and yes, we here in South Florida were able to pumpkin pick without the sweat rolling down our backs. How awesome is that?
THANK YOU MOTHER NATURE!!
The day started out bright, sunny, humid and so damn hot.
Then, it rained. And that rain, was the beginning of our glorious Fall cool down!
Mother Nature?
Yeah, she rawks!!!
Mike and I totally took advantage of our cooler temps and took the kids pumpkin picking. We had so much fun! The only snafu was the picture taking. Each time we do some family activity, I feel the need to document it photographically, and really, it is my proof that we actually do fun things. That being said, each and every time we do something, they give me a hard time when it comes to taking their pictures. Oh, and smiling. And then they leave me no choice but to resort to extreme measures.
Like the rules.
The rule today was you smile or you get no dessert. Simple, eh?
Not so.
They all started (Mike included) moaning and groaning about how I am always taking their picture and how they have to smile.
Smile.
Can you believe they are upset about smiling? Yeah, well, I had absolutely no empathy and resorted to the above mentioned rule. Sounds better than bribery.
Kinda.
Sigh.
And really, there are no surprises here. Nothing unreasonable. They know I am an avid picture taker-translate that to the picture taking Mommy from hell-and you would think that since I have been photographing their every move since ummm....
birth....that they would be used to it. All they have to do is smile for the camera and then we can go on. But nooooo, they make it harder than it needs to be. Sheesh!
Can you imagine?
The rules, however, they work. They all smiled, didn't they? Well, some more enthusiastically than others.
Whatever.
I still got my pictures.
And they got their dessert.
Everyone was happy.
And really, that is all that matters.
Anyway.
Mike and the kids found this pumpkin that was quite funky looking. Really, it totally looked like a turd.<----------Looks pretty gross, right?
Yeppers!
Mike and the kids were cracking poop jokes and thankfully, there were not a lot of people around as sometimes they can be a bit much.
Imagine that, right?
Of course, they did go overboard and started calling it the zombie pumpkin and the giant cow pie.
Really.
Wish I could say I was making this up...but I can't.
And the kids wanted to take a picture of themselves with Mike all zombied out by the pumpkin.
The result?
THIS picture------->
Interesting, right?
Yep, there is never a dull moment in our family. And Mike? He was having too much funny with that turd pumpkin and corrupting our children. And yes, we did actually end up buying that pumpkin. Scary, eh? <---------Who is scarier-Mike or the pumpkin? Ummm...don't answer that.
Really.
After pumpkin picking, we went to Cheddars and chowed on some awesome food. And yes, we had dessert because I had to follow through on my end of the bargain.
And just so you know, I am totally looking forward to Sunday as it is supposed to be even cooler with temps only making it in the 70's. Yay Fall!!!
So, are you ready to go pumpkin picking yet?

Never been pumpkin picking, lovely pics and story! My Dad has a farm so he just always drops us off some pumpkins for the kids to carve.
That was def a zombie pumpkin!! Ha ha!
Scary, zombie, turd looking pumpkin! Gotta love it! And that is way cool about your Dad-would love to be able to grow my own food. Problem is, I totally have a black thumb. Everything I try to grow, dies. Except for a cactus my older son's teacher gave me as an end-of-the-year thank you gift-THAT has survived and really, really, it has had NOOOOOO help from me. LOL! :)
